2025 Catholic Girls League Installation

On Sunday, October 19th at the 9:00 am Mass, our parish joyfully witnessed the Installation of the Catholic Girls League (CGL). Led by CGL Spiritual Advisor Fr. Joseph de Viveiros and Past President Charlotte Dunkley, the ceremony was a beautiful testament to service, faith, and community.

Photos from the event capture moments as Dhiya David accepted the gavel as President, joined by Vice President Juliana Verberne, Secretary Isabella Wilfred, and Treasurer Eliana Villamor. Each officer pledged their service “For God and Canada,” supported by the prayers and encouragement of fellow members and parishioners.

In touching tradition, Dhiya used blessed water to trace the sign of the cross on each member’s palm, reminding them of their baptismal call to bring the love of Jesus to all they encounter.

Fr. Joseph also reaffirmed his commitment to guide and support the Catholic Girls League in their mission of faith and service as their Spiritual Advisor.

2024 Catholic Girls League Installation

Sunday, September 29, 2024

What an incredible journey it has been to witness the formation of The Catholic Girls League (CGL) under the sponsorship of the Pro-Cathedral Catholic Women’s League (CWL) Council! It all started with a simple question from a father at the parish, looking for something that would connect his daughter with other young women of faith. And from that moment, the Holy Spirit took over and worked wonders.  Through the dedication and commitment of leaders and counselors, the support of Fr. Joseph de Viveiros as the Religious Leader, and the enthusiasm of parents and girls in the parish, this council of The Catholic Girls League was formed. The first in the diocese of Sault Ste. Marie! It’s amazing to see what can happen when a community comes together to support the faith and growth of our young women.  The recent installation of the CGL at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption was a beautiful and inspiring moment for all who witnessed it. The support from Pastor Fr. Larry Rymes, Pro-Cathedral CWL Council President, Mary-Lynn Truchon, and Sault Ste. Marie Diocesan President, Patricia Clizia, was truly heartwarming. It’s incredible to see this ceremony, a tradition of the Catholic Women’s League being passed down and extended to our young girls in the parish.  The election of the CGL leadership team – Charlotte Dunkley as President, Dhiya David as Vice-President, Eliana Villamor as Treasurer, and Juliana Verberne as Secretary – shows just how much potential and passion these young women possess. It’s wonderful to see them already discussing ways to share the good news and evangelize within the community.  As a parish, we are beyond proud of the girls and the formation of the CGL. The outpouring of enthusiasm and congratulations from parishioners at the installation ceremony was truly heartwarming. It’s clear that the formation of this group is something that is deeply valued and supported by all.
